It isn't that people in Malaysia are necessarily un-altruistic, I think I just have to reframe my mind. What does going out of one's way mean in Malaysia and how is this different than in the US?
Yesterday, I caught a glimpse.
There was a little girl sitting by herself at a cafe. One of the waiters was trying to get her off of the chair for some reason and I was somewhat taken aback. I then watched as he took a second chair and stacked it on top of the first - he was making it so she could reach her drink on the table.
